Surgical Orthodontics with Dr. Roberta Gardner
Sometimes braces alone cannot correct bite problems. Surgical orthodontics involves braces in conjunction with a surgical procedure to correct your jaw alignment. When needed, Dr. Gardner will consider surgical options for severe bite issues and/or significant esthetic concerns.
Surgical orthodontic treatment usually begins with braces. Once your teeth are in the necessary position, you will have your orthognathic surgery to align the jaws and teeth. Most of the time, this procedure is done in the hospital but in some cases it can be done as an outpatient procedure at a surgical center. Most surgical orthodontic treatment lasts less than 18 months. If Dr. Gardner recommends surgery as a part of your ideal treatment, you will be encouraged to visit with an oral surgeon prior to beginning treatment so you have all of the necessary information to make an informed decision regarding your treatment. Trust us at Gardner Orthodontics for your surgical orthodontic needs!
